What is EMI Shielding?

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) can disrupt the operation of electronic devices and affect the performance of surrounding equipment. EMI shielding limits electromagnetic energy escaping from or entering a display, reducing emissions that may affect surrounding equipment while protecting internal electronic circuits from external interference.

For display applications, EMI shielding incorporates conductive materials into or onto the display structure, while maintaining transparency and visual performance. These conductive layers help block or attenuate electromagnetic energy, reducing EMI transmission through the display.

Silver Coating

Silver coating provides high electrical conductivity and effective electromagnetic shielding performance for EMI shielding film. The silver coating layer enhances surface oxidation resistance during pre-assembly processing while offering high transmittance and consistent image quality across viewing angles.

Shielding Effectiveness: 26.5 dB

Tested Frequency Range: 300 MHz to 1.5 GHz

ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) Coating

ITO coating is a widely used EMI shielding method, applying a thin, lightweight, and electrically conductive coating to glass or film substrates. It offers high optical transparency and visibility while providing effective EMI shielding.

ITO-coated film can be customized through cutting, punching, and adhesive tape applications for specific EMI shielding and display requirements.

Transmittance: 76%

Shielding Effectiveness: Up to 30 dB (at 1 GHz)

Tested Frequency Range: 100 MHz to 8 GHz

High-purity (99.9% to 99.99%) oxide ceramic source materials used to deposit transparent conductive ITO layers on glass.

Diameter: Min. 0.5" to Max. 18"

Metal Mesh

Metal mesh uses a highly conductive copper grid with low sheet resistance to provide effective EMI shielding performance across a broad frequency range. The ultra-fine copper mesh is treated to enhance oxidation resistance while maintaining high optical transparency.

Transmittance: ≥ 75%

Shielding Effectiveness: Up to approx. 115 dB (Fine-pitch mesh), Up to 63 dB (Standard mesh)

Tested Frequency Range: 10 MHz to 4 GHz (Fine-pitch mesh), 14 kHz to 10 GHz (Standard mesh)

Benefits of
EMI Shielding

EMI/RFI shielding reduces electromagnetic emissions from displays while protecting internal electronic circuits from external electromagnetic interference. This helps minimize interference between the display and surrounding electronic equipment.
